Summary

The Golden Compass, by Christian Movie Reviews

The Golden Compass

Positive:
Lyra Belacqua an orphan discovers and overwhelming secret that takes her from college to a distant area in the North. She is not aware that this is part of her journey in life. The stars in the movie include Nicole Kidman, Dakota Blue Richards who plays Lyra, Daniel Craig, and Sam Elliot. The movie is an action-packed fantasy that was written from Philip Pullman’s book. Small children may feel a disturbance from viewing the movie. The movie has no nudity, which is positive for true Christians. The movie fits under genres, Sci-Fi Fantasy, Adventures, Fantasy, Dramas, and Blu-Ray. You may want to watch previews before renting or buying the movie The Golden Compass.

Negative:
There is some suggestion of sexuality, but nothing of concern. The movie contains violence including weapons noted in warfare. We see guns, swords, arrows, hooks, explosives, clubs, and chains. Lyra in the movie attempts to kill her uncle. In one scene some children are terrorized by thugs who attempt to snatch them. There is animal abuse and child abuse in the picture also. The movie has some minor language, which in one part the actor uses the term “hell” which is not biblical factual as there is no such thing as “hell,” rather the bible states the “dead are conscious of nothing,” which you will note in Ecclesiastes. According to some viewers, the movie chopped the book in too with its poor acting and depictions.

Comments:
There have been some Christian complaints that the movie contains messages to kill God. The movie is associated with “the Invasion, Practical Magic, Beyond the Golden Compass, and the Human Slain.” These associated movies should tell you something about The Golden Compass. The movie has nothing to do with Killing God, thus it is only a misconception.
